Anything more pigheaded and you want dishwashing liquid-just a drop, warmed up in the water–but into a dish of tepid water-not all gung-ho like a hungry toddler in morning.

The motto in all approaches is first test. Out of the way, where none of the guests can find it. Wrong chemicals can get dramatic on wool carpets. Astounding yourself is not a good idea.

Plunge with some science, a pinch of common sense, and a good spoonful of patience into stains. Your carpet will do you good during all of its life-and it will keep its thanks all to itself-just underfoot, and as life goes on over it.
